Agreement Achieved on Forming New Kosovo Government

The leaders of the Self-Determination movement and the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo (LDK), AlbinKurti and Isa Mustafa, announced on Sunday that an agreement has been signed regarding a coalition and creation of new Kosovo institution, putting an end to the institutional blockade that has lasted for more than two months.

The new Kosovo Government will have 15 ministries, were six ministers will be from each of the two strongest parties, while three ministers will be from the minority communities.

The incumbent Kosovo Assembly Speaker Glauk Konjufca will resign and LDK MP Vjosa Osmani will be elected to this office.

Kurti and Mustafa have not announced their candidates for the Kosovo Government, but it is certain that the agreement on the joint presidential candidate in the next elections, which has been the main issue so far, has been postponed.

Agreement late, but not too late, claims Kurti

President of the Self-Determination movement Albin Kurti wrote on his Facebook page that the agreement on creating the new ruling coalition has been late, but that it did not arrive too late.

He added that in the negotiations everyone had their demands and offers, but that an agreement was ultimately achieved.

As the session of the Assembly has been scheduled for Monday, where the new Kosovo Government will be voted in, because the two parties, with support of the ethnic minority parties, have secured enough votes for the vote to pass.
