American Ambassador: US Patience Has Limits

The US committed to providing support to the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, but its patience has limits, stated US Ambassador to Kosovo Philip Kosnett.

Kosnett told radio Kontakt Plus that if the governments of Kosovo and Serbia do not want to move forward soon, but say that they would be prepared “in several years”, then he cannot guarantee that Washington will in the future be as committed to this process as it is now.

He said that he cannot predict when the next official meeting could take place as part of the dialogue, but that the US authorities are working hard with the governments of Kosovo and Serbia in order to move forward so that his process would advance as quickly as possible.

Kosnett reminded that the USA said that it believes that 2019 is the year when Kosovo and Serbia should reach a comprehensive agreement, but added that he does not want to link the process to “any fixed target dates.”
