CEC keeps approving decisions on local elections despite President's decree

The Central Election Commission (CEC) met on Wednesday to approve several decisions concerning the organization of the local government elections. The meeting was called by Deputy Chair Denar Biba and the three Socialist Party-appointed members – Bledar Skënderi, Rezarta Bitri, and Edlira Jorgaqi.

The meeting took place regardless of the presidential decree issued last Saturday by the President of the Republic canceling the date of the election, decree that was published on Wednesday on the Official Journal. The CEC members have been placed under police protection since Monday, newspapers report.
