Dacic: Kosovo Recognition Process “Completely Stopped”

The process of Kosovo recognition was not only completely stopped, but it was also reversed, considering that a number of countries withdrew their recognition, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said.

Dacic said for Kosovo Online web portal that currently 93 countries were recognizing Kosovo, while five years ago there were 113 of them.

“The number is precise - 93 countries recognize Kosovo, 95 do not, and five countries are in some fluid state”, he said.

Dacic said that, with a significant certainty, he would be able to claim that Kosovo currently had no majority in UN SC, while in 2014 it had “a convincing majority”.

“Everything I am saying is documented, not only by official notes, but also statements of the highest state officials of these countries, so there is no room for any kind of suspicion or guesses or claims of Kosovo officials that these are some sort of lies”, he said.

While responding to the claims of the outgoing Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli that certain withdrawals were achieved through “bribes”, Dacic said that claiming such thing would be “tragicomic”, especially coming from Pacolli.

“He recognizes himself that he has been giving money [to certain countries in order to recognize Kosovo]. Here, this is not the case that someone is complaining about some methods, but the problem is that he has to justify in some way why the last country that has recognized Kosovo has been Barbados, almost two years ago”, he said.
