Documents of Serbian Arms Shipments to Ukraine via Poland, Released

The Serbian authorities have in recent days tried very hard to draw public attention away from stories of corruptive and illegal actions in the course of Serbian weapon’s exports, but this has been with little effect.

On Friday evening opposition leaders Dragan Djilas and Marinika Tepic posted on social networks part of a document showing that unnamed members of a Ukrainian delegation visited the Krusik factory in Valjevo in late 2015, for weapons sales negotiations.

Previously President Aleksandar Vucic had claimed that Serbian weapons were in fact used against Russian rebels in Ukraine, but that this had nothing to do with Serbia because it had delivered the weapons to Poland.

Faced with new accusations that the Serbian authorities (which issue permits for weapons exports) were in fact aware where and for what purpose the weapons would be used, only about ten days before his visit to Russia, Vucic held a press conference already at noon on Saturday, in an attempt to once again recycle the lie about exports to Poland.

Now he had to admit that the Ukrainians were involved in the negotiations, but he remained adamant that the weapons (mortar rounds) were purchased by a Polish company, which named Poland as the final destination.

This time a new detail was added – he said that for some reason this transaction was also suspicious to the Serbian side and that for that reason the Serbian intelligence service has informed the Russian intelligence service about the entire matter.

Vucic accused the opposition leaders of intentionally misinterpreting the content of the mentioned document, therefore trying to spoil Russo-Serbian relations. “The only thing you want is to harm Serbia,” Vucic said.
