Knife attack in Germany, 5 people injured

An attack has taken place in Bielefeld, Germany. It is reported that a man attacked and injured at least five people in the western city of Bielefeld on Sunday morning.

Police said four of the victims suffered serious injuries and were being treated at various hospitals after the suspect attacked citizens in front of a downtown bar with a sharp knife and then fled the scene.

The four seriously injured were all men aged between 22 and 27 from Bielefeld or surrounding towns.

German news agency DPA reported that the celebrants were soccer fans from a local team who defended themselves against the attacker before he fled. The city's Arminia Bielefeld soccer club won its match on Saturday and became the 3rd division champion.
