40 pro-Palestinian protesters are arrested on the campus of Yale University in Connecticut
At least 40 protesters have been arrested during a pro-Palestinian rally at Yale University in Connecticut, Yale Police Chief Anthony Campbell said.
Campbell said protesters were warned twice before the arrests.
Yale Daily News reporters were also threatened with arrest if they did not move from the square.
"Police have gathered in Beinecke Plaza, where pro-Palestinian protesters were demanding Yale University divest from military weapons manufacturers," he reported.
"Tensions at many American universities have been high since the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack in Israel and Israel's subsequent war against Hamas in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians," according to the enclave's health ministry.
