Seven Serbian fans are arrested after clashes before the match against England

Seven fans of Serbia's national team were taken into custody on June 16 after they were involved in a brawl in the German city of Gelsenkirchen before their team's match against England at the European Football Championship, police said.

A police spokesman told AFP that one of the fans was charged with grievous bodily harm.

Details about the nature of the injuries and what happened during the fight are still unclear, the spokesman said.

Earlier, police said they were forced to separate English and Serbian fans, who fought each other before the match.

The spokesman said no England fans were arrested.

England beat Serbia 1-0 in their Group C match thanks to Jude Bellingham's goal.

In the other match of this group, held earlier in the day, Denmark and Slovenia drew 1:1.

EURO 2024 started on Friday, June 14 and will end with the final match on July 14./ REL
