The cable car is blocked in Turkey, one dead and 10 injured

One person has died and 10 others have been injured after a cable car cabin collided with a broken pole and split open in southern Turkey.

Passengers fell to the ground after the crash on Friday evening, after the support pillar collapsed near Antalya, the BBC writes.

The entire cable car system was shut down as emergency workers tried to evacuate trapped passengers.

According to Turkey's disaster and emergency management agency, a total of 128 passengers were rescued from 16 cable cars on Friday night in Antalya's Konyaaltı district.

But officials said 43 passengers remained stranded as of Saturday morning.

Seven helicopters and more than 500 rescuers, including specialist climbers, remained at the scene on Saturday, the Turkish interior ministry said in a social media post.
