Authorities in the Czech Republic confirmed the first victim from the floods that swept through this Central European country.
Police chief Martin Vondrashek said the individual drowned in the Krasova River in the Moravskosllezski region.
At least seven other people are missing in the Czech Republic, including three who are believed to have been trapped in a car when it was swept away by a river near the town of Jesenik.
So far there is no trace of the vehicle.
About 250,000 families continue to remain without electricity, while in the capital Prague, authorities took measures to prevent flooding around the Voltava River.
The Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, said that such floods "happen once in a century".
The torrential rains started at the end of last week and are expected to continue on Monday.
Several areas in Romania were also hit hard by the floods, where six people died and one went missing during the weekend.
As a result of the floods, one person also drowned in Poland and another in Austria. /rel
