US President-elect Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes it is time for peace in the war with Russia, adding that President Vladimir Putin must understand that the war cannot continue after thousands of lives have been lost. Trump stressed that no specific details of the peace process have been discussed, but he expressed commitment to finding a way to end the conflict.
Zelenskyy, on the other hand, during a meeting with Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace, reiterated that Ukraine wants the war to end as soon as possible. He said a diplomatic solution would save lives, but stressed that Putin is not ready to stop the war. The Ukrainian president stressed that Ukraine must be strong on the battlefield to reach a diplomatic agreement, requesting advanced military assistance, including long-range systems such as Atacms, Demi and Storm Shadow/Scalp.
