Ditmir Bushati talks about leaving the SP: It was not my choice to leave

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs and the former political leader of the Shkodër region, Ditmir Bushati, has spoken about his departure from the Socialist Party.

In TCH, he stated that it was not his choice to run away from active politics and commented on this period as 'political fasting'.

Bushati : It was not my choice to leave active politics. I have been in a period of political fasting after the 2021 elections. No one can deny either my beliefs or my affiliation as a socialist, trying not to throw stones at the political organization in which I have been in higher positions, maintaining a kind of balance, believing that political parties are public goods.

When I was invited to join by Edi Rama resembled Athens of old, over the years PS resembles Sparta to me more than Ancient Athens, we are realizing that we are living in a more interconnected world. Also because of my family background, Shkodra has been an emotion beyond politics for me, we wanted to have a healthy result, it has been a DP stronghold. There is no accusation from DP. Time proved my attitudes regarding the approach with Shkodra.

Ditmir Bushati appeared on the podiums of the Socialist Party in the second term in the opposition in 2005 as a deputy of this party.

Earlier, he had started political activism with the SP, at the same time he was also engaged as part of civil society, leading the European Movement in Albania.

Ditmir Bushati would stand out as one of the most active socialist MPs in the opposition but also in the government after the 2013 elections.

In September 2013, he was elected Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until January 2019. Meanwhile, Ditmir Bushati was one of the prominent leaders of the Socialist Party, first in Tirana and then as the political leader of Shkodër district.
