The Socialist Party has proposed changing the Highway Code. In the letter deposited in the Assembly, which bears the signature of the head of the group, Taulant Balla, it is requested that the driver's licenses be 15 years old.
The latter will be examined in the relevant parliamentary committees. The Road Code requires 84 votes to be approved, which means that votes from the opposition will also be needed for the legal changes to enter into force.
How is it currently?
Driving licenses of categories AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B and BE, according to age group, are valid for:
– 10 years, if issued or confirmed for persons up to the age of 50;
- 5 years, for those who have passed the age of 50
– 3 years, for those over 70.
What is proposed?
Driving licenses of categories AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B and BE, according to age group, are valid for:
– 15 years, if issued or confirmed for persons up to the age of 70;
- For persons over 70 years of age, confirmation of the validity of the driving license is done by submitting a medical certificate issued by one of the medical bodies mentioned in point 2 of article 117, not more than six months in advance, from which it results that the owner this certificate meets all the required physical and mental requirements
