Rama starts his two-day visit to Italy, the agenda is revealed
Prime Minister Edi Rama arrived in Italy this Friday afternoon, as part of a two-day visit for the 30th anniversary of the March 1991 exodus of Albanians.
The head of the Albanian government has arrived in Bari, where he was received by the Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio and the Mayor, Michele Emiliano. In this two-day visit to Italy (March 5 and 6), Rama is accompanied by the Minister of State for Reconstruction, Arben Ahmetaj, the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, the Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, and the MP Fate Velaj.
Italian media covered the agenda that will be followed by Prime Minister Edi Rama. In the framework of the 30th anniversary of the mass exodus of Albanians in Italy, Rama will be present in Puglia today, where an extraordinary session will take place in the Regional Council. Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio will also be present. Rama will also take part in the inauguration of the exhibition "Exodus", created by Nicola Genco, erected in the Agora of the Regional Council Building, where there will be a performance of cello Redi Hasa. The exhibition "Friends and Angels" curated by Alfredo Pirri is set in the same spaces. The rectors of the Apulian universities will hand over to Rama a copy of the manual for "Safe Regions" translated into Albanian and compiled thanks to the work of 130 personalities from the scientific world of four cultural universities.
At the event held this afternoon in Bari, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said: "The beginning of the 1990s was a period of dramatic change for Albania. The collapse of what was left of the communist regime and the weak economy pushed them thousands of Albanians, especially the young and the most educated, to leave, emigrate and gain the freedom that had been denied them for so long. The images of those days, the crowds gathered on the ship, will forever remain etched in the collective memory of "All the Italians. The Albanians, after facing a voyage as short as they were treacherous, arrived in Italy exhausted."
After 30 years, said Di Maio, it is time to remember together those days that brought 25 thousand Albanians to our shores.
"Today we wanted to remember and celebrate all this, together with the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is also a dear and esteemed friend of Italy and the governor of the Puglia Region Michele Emiliano" , said Di Maio.
