Rama: We do not accept refugees from Palestine, we are a small country

"We do not accept refugees from Palestine." This was stated by Prime Minister Edi Rama during an event held within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.

US President Donald Trump said a few days ago at a press conference that Albania is part of the list of countries he is considering for sending Palestinian refugees.

Rama said he has not been asked by the Trump administration regarding this issue, stating that it will not happen that Albania will host Palestinian refugees.

"No one from the Trump administration has asked us, but even if they do, it's not logical, because we are in the middle of Europe and how can hundreds of thousands of people come to us? Anyway, this is a logistical part and we are a small country. But this is not going to happen, at least not during my government ," Rama said.

Bringing to the attention of those present the hospitality of Jews during World War II, the acceptance of 7,000 mujahideen, and the shelter of Afghans who fled after the Taliban's return to power in 2021, Rama stated that the situation with the Palestinians is different.

"We feel very sorry for these people who are victims of one of the most brutal dictatorships that has ever existed, which is Hamas, but we are not part of this history and we never will be," Rama declared.
