Price increases, Rama: The private sector decides, not the state

Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken about the price increase, saying that it is not dictated by the government, but by the private sector.

Asked by Facebook commentators, Rama said that the state has the power to increase purchasing power and wages, but not product prices.

"How is it explained that all those who come here say Albania is better. Because we cannot make a comparison. There may be some items in the supermarkets that are more expensive. In general, it is not even a question at all. We will see with our purchasing power. Of course, what the government does is to increase salaries, to increase the possibility of salary increases in the private sector, to increase gradually and to provide bonuses for pensioners. The private sector sets prices, not the state. What we do is to increase purchasing power. It is not in all categories, it is not for all classes, but it is the step-by-step increase that we are making ," said Rama.
