Increase in the price of bread, Ahmetaj: It is affordable, it has not gone to 100 lek
Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj commented on one of the issues that has directly affected the table of Albanians, the increase in the price of bread.
Invited to the show 'Frontline' on 'News 24', Ahmetaj says that the increase is affordable up to 7-10%.
AI explains that this increase has come due to Russia, the main supplier of grain has increased the price as well as imposed export tax.
"In the discussions we have had with wholesale and retail, the price is affordable up to 7-10%, as the discussions and prices that were once set have been planned at a slightly higher price of flour than it is today.
From the calculations we have made it is an increase of 7-10%. In principle it came from the increase in the price of wheat in international markets. One of the main suppliers is Russia, it has also imposed export taxes and has reflected the price on the stock exchange.
100 lekë did not go.
The pricing alternative does not exist, it would be disastrous for the business. This is the third time this price movement has occurred. In a period of 7-8 months they are recalibrated in the market. We subsidize families in need, but to enter the bread and butter subsidy, we are not at that point. We are monitoring it.
Yesterday I was with Rama order to akim with the Minister of Agriculture and Finance for the job. The government can make different decisions, there will be no forced prices. We are in the monitoring phase, the increases are at levels where the enterprise absorbs it. We will have our decisions from the progress ", says Ahmetaj.
