Veliaj celebrates Rama's victory, even though he was forgotten in the campaign

Veliaj celebrates Rama's victory, even though he was forgotten in the

When he opened the May 11 electoral campaign, Rama chose to organize a 'grand party' in 'Skënderbej' Square.

However, this celebration organized by Rama and his company was also seen as a kind of revenge against Veliaj, as the dances and songs rang out in front of the Tirana Municipality that he led before being imprisoned.

From his prison cell, Veliaj made a reaction to the SP's victory that seemed more like a thank-you, an attempt to make himself part of the victory, even though Rama did not include him.

This reaction of Veliaj, which mentions his contribution to the SP, is seen as a 'silent' and solitary celebration, even though Rama's own silence towards him was perhaps louder than any words.

"My friends, I don't know where to start. I am speechless, completely speechless, in front of this extraordinary wave of support that erased every doubt, every claim, every poison and every mud that was thrown at the Socialist Party in these four years."

Albanians spoke - and spoke loudly! They spoke more powerfully than ever before, since the terrible year of 1997, when they showed the country to the same grotesque character who dares to return to Albanians, even today, as if it were a "new offer".

I have learned one thing about Albanians: they do not forget and they are not deceived.

They no longer trust Saliu & co and May 11th put the seal on this discussion.

Albanians know how to appreciate change, work, development, and they know very well that there is only one force in this country that can take Albania forward towards the Europe we have dreamed of: the Socialist Party led by Edi Rama and his team.

Saliu & co have no ears to hear the voice of the people. They never have because they do not want power for the people. Since 2013 until today, after every defeat, they have talked about theft, about conspiracy, about a people that does not deserve them.

But if there's one thing that sets us socialists apart from our rivals, it's that we know how to listen. We're not here for ourselves - we're here to work, to build a better future for all Albanians.

Today, I am proud to be part of this project that has transformed Albania. I am proud to have made a contribution, however modest, to this extraordinary journey that citizens massively supported on May 11 with their vote.

Today I feel humbled by this massive support and I want to thank each and every one of you, from north to south, from east to west, from America to Greece, from England to Turkey, who trusted the Socialist Party.

But, allow me to save my most special thanks for my beloved Tirana. For my second family. For my colleagues at the Municipality of Tirana and for the wonderful team of the Socialist Party in Tirana who, with their work and dedication, achieved an unforgettable victory.

"You are extraordinary. I am proud of all of you!" , Veliaj writes on Facebook.
