Berisha: May 11 was an absolute farce! All rights to equal competition were

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted in harsh tones to the result of the May 11 parliamentary elections, describing them as an "electoral farce" and not a legitimate electoral process. Invited to the show "Opinion", Berisha stated that in these elections all rules and standards of political equality were violated, emphasizing that you cannot talk about democracy when there is no fair competition.

"You talk about elections, I talk about farce, they are two different things. May 11 was an absolute farce. The narco-dictatorship develops electoral farces, not free elections," said Berisha.
According to him, the right to equal competition, one of the fundamental principles of democracy, protected by 16 international documents, including the Copenhagen document, was violated in these elections, which according to Berisha were violated one by one.

Berisha emphasized that even the preliminary OSCE/ODIHR report confirms that the elections took place on unequal ground, where the ruling party used public administration, state resources and political influence to dominate the process.

"All the rules for fair competition have been violated. The international documents are very clear: elections without equality between contestants are not elections, they are a farce," he added.
Berisha's statements come in the wake of the rejection of the election result by the opposition, which has warned of legal and political actions in the coming days to oppose what they describe as "massive manipulation of the will of the citizens".
