Bylykbashi: Rama is offering the terrible standard of the '97 elections

Deputy Oerd Bylykbashi, on behalf of the Democratic Party, has responded to the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who a few days ago offered for the 2025 elections, the terrible standard of the 1997 elections.

Bylykbashi declared that, 'this is an ominous warning about the fate of the vote of Albanians in Albania and those who live abroad, and who will have the right to vote for the first time'.

The DP MP called for a technical government without Edi Rama, as a necessity for Albania.

Statement of Oerd Bykykbashi:

Dear citizens,

I am here today to respond on behalf of the Democratic Party to the threat presented as a prediction by Edi Rama, that the Democratic Party will receive fewer mandates in the 2025 elections than in the scandalous elections of 1997.

This is an ominous warning for the voting fate of Albanians in Albania and those living abroad, who will have the right to vote for the first time.

The OSCE called the 1997 vote only 'acceptable due to severe circumstances' and found that in about 70% of the country, Democratic Party candidates were prevented by gangs from campaigning.

The 1997 elections, where the terror of the Zani Çaush gangs linked to the Socialist Party reigned over the candidates, militants and sympathizers of the Democratic Party, are the standard that Prime Minister Edi Rama offers to Albanians for the 2025 elections.

Edi Rama confronts fair elections with gangs and their criminal money.

Elections with equal rules are confronted with the massive and brutal use of the state, state money to buy votes, inspectorates, police, information service and a politicized administration turned into a patronage network.

Freedom of choice is opposed to the massive purchase of votes with money from crime, corruption and the state budget, with state favors and patronage control.

This statement by Edi Rama proves once again that a technical government, which is not led by Edi Rama, and which guarantees free and fair elections is a necessity for Albanians.

This statement by Rama, after imprisoning the leader of the Democratic Party, is an indication that he only has in mind the force and the gangs to destroy the elections and defeat the opposition.

The Democratic Party takes very seriously this promise of Edi Rama to restore the standard of 1997 in the elections.

The Democratic Party will respond strongly, fully and proportionally and with every legitimate means, to Edi Rama's scenario.

Edi Rama, every tool of his, every patronageist, every institution of the state, including the supposedly independent ones, will bear full responsibility if they engage or pave the way for this scenario.

Once again, to avoid the scenarios of '97, the Democratic Party demands the release of Sali Berisha, a technical government and free and fair elections!
