Kelliçi: Citizens want revolt without return, our action must be escalated
The political leader of Tirana for the DP, Belind Kelliçi, said that the citizens want a revolt without return.
Invited to Syri TV, Kelliçi said that there is a request from citizens for protests. He emphasized that in the conditions Albania is in today, no one should claim free elections, when the prime minister has everything in his hands.
"There is an increased demand from many citizens, even from the democrats indisputably. Citizens have always been a step ahead in relation to the political need of the moment, so often offices and conferences do not offer this so that you can understand what people want on the ground. Citizens want revolt, and revolt without going back. Which definitely means that the political action of the opposition, of the Democratic Party in this case will have to be escalated. I have been in favor at every moment that this issue has been brought up for discussion, that our action will have to escalate into a permanent and irreversible protest. To be clear. In the current conditions we are in, no one should claim that there will be elections in Albania.
In Albania, there will be votes with the current conditions, with the way the prime minister controls the government, the patronageists, the media, the judiciary, everything in this country. If we don't give this country an opportunity to make choices. If we don't give the citizens the opportunity to go to the ballot box and vote as they want, calmly and with a clear conscience vote for whoever they want. If this moment does not come, we have not succeeded in our battle. Obviously, this is not achieved in the current conditions, but it is achieved by having a technical government. Let's take North Macedonia as an example, a caretaker government with technicians, with professionals that at least 100 days before the elections only takes care of the electoral process", said Kelliçi.
