At least 120 people have been arrested in Russia for attending ceremonies to pay their last respects to Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, who was buried on March 1 in Moscow following his suspicious death on February 16 in a prison in the Arctic.

Navalny was buried in a cemetery near the home where he grew up in Moscow, as tens of thousands of supporters risked confrontation with the authorities and went to pay their respects outside the church where the farewell ceremony was held.

Family members and close aides were allowed inside the church before he was buried.

Police have been on every street corner of Russia, and while there were no reports of incidents, more than 120 people were later detained in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novisibirsk, Jetakerinburg and other cities for taking part in the protests. remembered Navalny.

Many Western diplomats who are engaged in Moscow also participated in the ceremony in the church.
