'Golden passport is a call for traffickers', Berisha: Rama seeks to

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held the weekly conference today with journalists.

In his speech, Berisha referred to the "golden passport" or the government's decision to grant a concession to a part of the citizenship programs. Berisha said that with the introduction of "golden passports", Rama wants to turn Albania into a haven for drugs and crime.

The chief democrat added that the 'golden passport' will serve to channel the money of drug and crime lords. According to him, Rama with this act seeks to block the process of Albania's integration into the European Union.

"The PD declares that after the initiative for the legalization of cannabis, the fiscal amnesty initiative, the golden passport is the third and last mechanization of the trinomial of turning Albania into a haven for drugs and crimes. The golden passport in countries where the rule of law operates is an opportunity used to attract foreign investment. Whereas the golden passport in the first narco-state such as Albania is a black channel for toxic money for drug and crime bosses. Edi Rama and his regime are already known for destroying the business climate. During the 9 years of his regime, more than 110 thousand businesses went bankrupt due to arbitrariness, greed and corruption, insecurity and crime, secret tenders, concessions without competition. With the golden passport, Edi Rama transforms Albania into a dangerous country in the first place for Albanian citizens, in a dangerous place because of traffickers and criminals who can gather in this country, for the region of Europe and the world. I welcome the position of the European Commission which has expressed itself against these practices. I condemn with the greatest severity the golden passport of Edi Rama as a call to traffickers and criminals from all over the world, pay to gather in Albania. I warn Edi Rama that these practices apparently have a second political purpose. Blocking the process of negotiations with the EU", pay to meet in Albania. I warn Edi Rama that these practices apparently have a second political purpose. Blocking the process of negotiations with the EU", pay to meet in Albania. I warn Edi Rama that these practices apparently have a second political purpose. Blocking the process of negotiations with the EU",Berisha declared.
