DP: Thousands of Albanians isolated in the cold, without power, 'tear

Democratic Party media spokesperson Floriana Garo said that thousands of Albanians have been isolated in the cold, without power and heating over the past few days.

Garo, through a statement, states that the government only thinks about propaganda and that road tenders are made for friends of the government officials.

According to Garo, the current government does not think about the citizens, about making their lives better. She adds that this will be the last winter of this government.

PRESS RELEASE BY DP SPOKESPERSON, FLORIANA GARO

Thousands of Albanian families have spent the last two nights without electricity and heating, and with several key national road axes blocked. Most of the rural areas in the Dibra region are still blocked, cutting off communication between villages and the city and the rest of the country, leading to the closure of most schools.

Lura, Selishta, Kalaja-Dodës, Sllova, Trebishti and Ostreni are blocked, and Qafa e Murrizit on Arbri Street, inaugurated several times by Rama, was only opened today after two days of blockage.

Many villages in Kukës are blocked by snow and without electricity: Zapodi, Kalisi, Çaja, Arreni, Surroj and Vilë are blocked, while the village of Tërshenë, in addition to being blocked, is also without electricity.

Dear citizens,

This is information coming from the ground, where isolated Albanians struggle with the blockade and government disregard, and refute the publicity statements of Balluk and her subordinates.

Over the last three days, Albania, in a good part of its territory, in mountainous areas but also in the lowlands, has collapsed in the face of weather that, although not common, cannot be compared to the storms that other countries face.

This collapse has only one cause.

Funds and tenders for the maintenance and security, construction of Albania's roads and infrastructure, go to friends of the government or end up in the pockets of ministers and directors.

The Rama government thinks about the facade, what is visible and not the vital infrastructure, which keeps citizens safe, with lights and heating in their homes and with access and freedom of movement. A few centimeters of snow and a few millimeters of rain, from Kukës to Vlora, are enough for Rama's facade to peel.

Schools have also encountered numerous problems, with 77 of them across the country, closed due to lack of heating or being blocked by rainfall.

The lack of heating makes the government reduce the price of energy by 1 lek, after raising it by 10, a promo for the electoral campaign, but without any value.

The promises of Rama and Balluk, unfulfilled in 12 years, cannot be trusted today. Children, the elderly, the sick throughout Albania have learned this bitter fact in these 3 days of winter.

This will be the last winter in power of the worst government Albania has had since Mehmet Shehu and the storms of 1985.
