Diaspora vote, PD: CEC can solve it without interfering with the code

The Democratic Party casts doubt on the CEC's proposal that the diaspora's vote may be jeopardized due to the time limits.

According to her, more than a matter of time, this raised concern may be a matter of financial cost.

"We don't know if this is a matter of impossibility and endangerment or a fee matter that should be negotiated by the postal operators ", said Ivi Kaso.

In an interview for A2CNN, the Secretary for Legal and Electoral Affairs Ivi Kaso does not see the solution in changes to the Code, but charges this task to the CEC.

" It is not the duty of the political parties at this stage to think of a solution, but the duty of the CEC. There is still time and way to address these concerns before code proposals are considered or recommended."

If the only solution, says Ivi Kaso, is the change in the Code, then PD will not become an obstacle. But to go to this step, the blue headquarters needs an official letter from Celibashi.

"DP will not let it fail for technical aspects as far as it has in hand, but first it is the institutions that should explore all other ways. There is still no official letter to amend the code, if only for this aspect".

The Democrats do not want electronic voting to be implemented in the upcoming parliamentary elections, although they were the ones who asked to test this procedure in certain areas of the country.

"It is a political position and it has not changed as long as the institutional position and justice institutions have not changed in relation to all the issues we have raised".

On the other hand, the SP aims to vote electronically at least in the Tirana district, regardless of whether the DP opposes it. Celibashi will have to choose between the request of the pink headquarters to implement the law and the need for a process chosen by political consensus.
