Vetting of politicians / Basha ignores tent statements, today returns to 'mafia project'
Four years ago, from the opposition tent set up below the office of the prime minister, then again led by Edi Rama, the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, accused in high tones that vetting is a mafia project.
According to Basha, foreign diplomats have even been involved in this project on behalf of the Prime Minister and that European experts have been taken hostage.
" But what is vetting in politics?" Whoever vetts politicians, the people do, but only with free and fair elections. Rama's plan as the head of the dome of the old republic, the plot is simple, what he will do with vetting in justice he will do with vetting in politics.
With vetting in justice, he wants to take over the apparatus of justice so that not even his friends associated with crime can get a thorn in your side. "The vetting project is a mafia project where senior diplomats in Tirana have been involved on behalf of Edi Rama, EU experts have been taken hostage and soon the time will come when giving democratic responsibilities in a democratic institution such as the EU ", Basha declared at that time .
Four years later, the vetting proposal for politicians was put back on the table by the Democratic Party, but sparked debate in public opinion.
Basha seems to close his eyes and returns to the project that he described as 'mafia', the vetting of politicians.
Basha even stated that the project is a mafia plot to capture the vetting of the judiciary, while SPAK is the product that now the leader of the Democrats wants to vetting politicians.
Recall that the Democratic Party submitted to the Assembly amendments to the Constitutional amendments on 3 issues, electoral reform, territorial reform and vetting of politicians. In his speech, the Democratic leader Lulzim Basha in a conference clarified these amendments, they have to do with the electoral reform and the undoing of the changes of July 30, which according to the leader of the Democrats, were passed without the will of the opposition.
Basha has been rumored for days about an agreement with Prime Minister Rama regarding the extension of mandates for vetting.
DP MP, Oerd Bylykbashi stated a few weeks ago that regarding this issue there is a bargain offered by Prime Minister Edi Rama to DP leader, Lulzim Basha.
According to the Democratic MP, Rama asks the DP to come out in favor of extending the term for vetting members and in return, according to him, to take several municipalities, so he adds that the most important reform for the opposition should be to change the Constitution.
However, these statements were quickly denied by the DP. Representatives of the Democratic Party have been repeatedly asked whether they will vote in favor of extending the vetting mandate, but so far not a clear position on their part.
