Accident in Greece, 16-year-old Albanian dies

A serious tragedy has shocked the local community of Kastoria, following a fatal road accident that occurred in the early hours of this morning at around 03:20, on a rural road near the Mesopotamia forest.

According to Greek media, the agricultural vehicle was carrying five young people, four of them minors and one adult, who had gone for a short walk in the area. The vehicle was driven by a 17-year-old who did not have a driver's license and would celebrate his 18th birthday in a few days.

For reasons still under investigation, the young driver lost control of the vehicle while driving on a rural road near the Mesopotamia forest. The vehicle went off the road and overturned, seriously injuring a 16-year-old Albanian passenger.

Immediately after the accident, police forces and an emergency service ambulance arrived at the scene. The young Albanian man was pulled out of the wrecked vehicle without any signs of life and was urgently transported to the Kastoria General Hospital.

Despite the doctors' efforts, he could not survive and was pronounced dead.

The other four people in the vehicle suffered minor injuries, but are in a serious psychological state after the incident.

Police have launched preliminary investigations to determine the exact causes of the accident, while authorities are examining all possible leads.
