Analyst: After imprisoning Veliaj, Rama is seeking to take over the Tirana

Analyst Andi Bushati commented on Prime Minister Edi Rama's movements following the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj.

Speaking on Syri TV, Bushati said that Rama is seeking to replace himself as head of the Municipality of Tirana.

Bushati : Even before, Erion Veliaj ate crumbs from the Municipality, they were very large crumbs, so let's not misunderstand. But the big builders negotiated directly with Edi Rama. To me, the protection that Rama is making for Veliaj and the effort he is making to take over the administration of the municipality is more than an electoral maneuver. Over the years, Erion Veliaj had built a financial structure and a human pyramid, very powerful to electorally control Tirana. And Rama, after giving the green light to Veliaj's imprisonment, will not lose this structure. Therefore, he will superimpose himself on the Municipality of Tirana.

I don't know the PS in detail, or I don't know it as we knew it at least until 2009, before Rama turned it into a closed and strong-handed garrison. But as far as I know it as a journalist, I am against those who think that there is an internal war, there are currents that can eat each other's heads, etc. I think that Rama rules Albania with an iron fist, and not Rilindja.

So, Rama is absolute there and can direct everything. In this sense, I do not expect any big surprises on the road to the elections. In the elections, we will again have a pair of destroyed elections, where bandits will play a role, where propaganda will play a role, media fed with the money of the former incinerator and with the money they still continue to receive. So, we will not have those elections that are called free and fair. And this is with the maximum efforts that the DP is making.
