60-year-old wanted by Italy for drug trafficking arrested in Vlora, extradition

A 60-year-old man has been arrested by the Vlora Police, after being internationally wanted by Italian authorities.

The arrested person is Fredi Arshi, also known as Alfred Arshiaj, sentenced by the Court of Appeal in Turin to 11 years and 6 months in prison for involvement in a criminal organization engaged in drug trafficking.

The police operation codenamed "Epilogo" was finalized by the Narcotics Investigation Section in cooperation with the Special Operational Force at the Vlora Police Department, after exchanging information with Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome.

Arshiaj was captured in the "10 Korriku" neighborhood and arrested with the aim of his extradition to Italy.

Albanian and Italian authorities are continuing the procedures for his transfer to Italy, where he will serve the sentence imposed by Italian justice.
