Defect in the wastewater pumping station in Shëngjin
A serious defect in the wastewater pumping station in the tourist area of Shëngjin has put the entire sewage system out of operation, affecting the city center and the Kuna area.

The defect was identified yesterday and has put the Lezha Water and Sewerage Company (UK) in motion. According to reports, the main cause is the depreciation of the main foundations of the suction and delivery pumps, which have completely ruptured, leading to the station being out of operation.

The defect occurred in the main tank of the station, which is located at a height of -11 meters below sea level. To resolve the situation, emergency actions were immediately initiated by the employees of the Lezha Waterworks. Despite the technical challenges, they are working non-stop to repair the damage.

The Director of the Waterworks Authority of Lezhë, Zef Maçi, has stated that the aim is to resolve the defect within today. “Our priority is to restore the functioning of the pumping station to avoid any impact on the removal of polluted waters in the area,” Maçi said in a telephone statement.

Authorities have assured citizens and tourists that every effort is being made to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and restore normality to the Shëngjin sewage system.
