Socialist MP admits Vetting failure in Police: The process is not effective
Socialist Party MP Ermonela Felaj has admitted that the Vetting process in the Police has failed.
Speaking from the Assembly, Felaj said that this law had great support after it was approved with the aim of investigating police officers and punishing accomplices in crime.
However, she added that the process is not effective, and to give an impetus will engage and the CIA.
"The change in the law on Vetting in the Police is proposed by a group of deputies. This change is driven by the awareness that we have a responsibility to pursue their impact and implementation. The Vetting Act has had widespread support in the Assembly, the public justification has been well known; we need to investigate State Police employees to decide who should attend work and who should not. There have been few such cases, in the worst case they have become accomplices to the crime. The basic reason was why we voted for him. The police must be focused on their duties. We too have been attentive to watch this process, even though we do not have the powers of the External Evaluation Commission. From the work balance it results that since 2018, only 32 vets have been performed. The process is not effective, the mechanism found is not proper. To give impetus to the whole process, we made an intervention so that the CIA could be involved in the Vetting process. It is also in the work project. We made an intervention to stop the process for high ranks and start it for the members of the CIA so that the process can move forward. This is the intervention we will make at the moment. It is a clear and pure predisposition ", said Felaj.
