World Election Day, message from the OSCE head in Albania: Important moment for

The OSCE Ambassador to Albania, Michel Tarran, delivered a message on World Election Day.

Tarran emphasized the importance of the May 11 elections, describing them as a key moment for the country's future.

He underlined that voting is a fundamental right that gives citizens the power to influence democratic processes and praised the role of young people in strengthening democracy and encouraged them to actively participate in the elections.

"Today, on International Election Day, we would like to bring to attention the importance of democratic processes, the fundamental right to vote, and the power of citizens' voices in shaping the future of Albania.

The general elections on 11 May will be a significant moment for democracy in Albania, as citizens elect their representatives to the Assembly for the next four years. Active participation in the elections strengthens public trust in democratic institutions and processes, ensuring that every vote counts. Check your voter registration on the voter list extract at the Civil Status Office of your administrative unit, on the website/application of the Central Election Commission, or via the e-Albania portal.

These elections are also historic because for the first time, eligible Albanian citizens who do not live in Albania will have the opportunity to vote from abroad. To properly exercise this right and help shape the future of Albania, we encourage all eligible voters abroad to register by March 4, 2025, according to the CEC guidelines.

We particularly appreciate the essential role of young people in building a stronger democracy. Get informed, get involved and make your voice heard by voting! In close cooperation with the CEC, the OSCE Presence in Albania remains committed to supporting the widest possible participation of young people in the elections and to promoting an inclusive electoral process.

"Your vote matters! Your voice shapes the future!" said Tarran.
