The General Directorate of Prisons has provided details of the drone that enters Peqin prison.

In an announcement, the Bugje directorate says that for 1 minute and 20 seconds, he threw two packages of drugs inside the prison premises.

On September 12, 2024, around 8:37 p.m., the security services at the Penal Judgment Execution Institution (IEVP) in Peqin detected an aircraft, a drone, that flew at a height of 100-150 meters in the prison territory, where for 1 minute and 20 seconds threw two packages inside the prison premises.

After the aircraft was identified, the security forces of IEVP Peqin were immediately notified, who, together with the Special Forces of the General Directorate of Prisons, carried out detailed checks in the open and closed area of ​​the IEVP Peqin regime institution.

After detailed checks, it was found that one of the packages contained two mobile devices, an iPhone 11 and an iPhone 11 Pro Max, as well as eight phone chargers. In another package, 380 grams of suspected cannabis sativa were found, divided into small doses of 0.13-0.15 grams, as well as 33 small doses of suspected cocaine, with a total weight of 57.7 grams.

The General Directorate of Prisons has immediately undertaken a number of measures to increase security, including: the addition of specialized forces for monitoring external spaces and controlling suspicious activities; full control of all open and closed areas of the IEPP; as well as analyzing the event for the involvement of convicts or detainees in this event. Also, it is foreseen that all prisoners or detainees who will be suspected of involvement in the above event will be immediately transferred to other institutions to prevent any further involvement in illegal activities.

The State Police and the Prosecutor's Office are investigating the incident to identify the persons responsible and bring the organizers of this illegal activity to justice. The General Directorate of Prisons guarantees that it will continue to take all necessary measures to further increase security in prisons and to prevent criminal activities within them. All the evidence found has gone to the scientific laboratory for further examination.
