German MEP Viola von Cramon has described the European Union-Western Balkans summit as a "complete failure".
Through a Twitter post, von Cramon said that all six Western Balkan countries were invited to Brussels, but were not given anything.
"This EU-Western Balkans summit was a complete failure. This sends a really catastrophic signal. "He is just a happy person in this situation and he sits in the Kremlin ," Viola von Cramon wrote on Twitter.
Also in an interview with Euractiv, the German official spoke about the 'Open Balkans' initiative, which she said she did not support as we undermined the merit-based EU membership process.
" This is an initiative that is not based on principles, it is not based on standards and criteria, and if we move forward with this, we would actually undermine the merit-based EU membership process. So I would not support it ", said Viola von Cramon Taubadel.
