International cyber fraud network hit, seizures and checks in Tirana
The State Police has participated in a large-scale international operation against cybercrime, codenamed “Platforma”, successfully finalizing checks and seizures in Tirana. The operation was carried out in cooperation with the authorities of Germany, Cyprus and Israel, and with the support of the European agencies Eurojust and Europol.

In the Albanian territory, the action was led by the Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes and the Special Operational Force, under the coordination of the Special Prosecution Office SPAK. In accordance with a letter of request from Germany, controls were carried out in three different premises in Tirana, where the following were seized:

2 mobile phones
1 laptop
1 computer unit
1 USB and an external hard drive
40,020 euros in cash
According to preliminary investigations, this is a structured criminal group that operated through a fake online investment platform, defrauding citizens from various European countries. So far, there are over 100 victims who have been defrauded with a financial loss of over 3 million euros.

Operation Platform is part of a coordinated international effort to crack down on criminal networks that use technology to commit financial fraud on a global scale. Authorities warn that similar investigations and operations will continue as part of international cooperation to combat cybercrime.
