A 42-year-old man sentenced to 15 years in prison for human trafficking has been arrested in Italy, as part of the international operation "The Wanted".

Internationally wanted for years, he was located thanks to cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome, and his extradition to Albania is now awaited to serve the remainder of his sentence.

"Sentenced to 15 years in prison for human trafficking, the 42-year-old is arrested in Italy.

During this phase of the operation codenamed "The Wanted", as a result of the coordination of information and operational actions between Interpol Tirana specialists and Interpol Rome specialists, citizen Sefer Selimaj alias Ani Ibraliu, 42 years old, was arrested in Italy, with the aim of extradition to Albania.

He was internationally wanted after the Tirana Court of Appeal sentenced him to 15 years in prison in 2017 for the criminal offense of "Human Trafficking." The 42-year-old has 13 years, 10 months and 19 days of prison left to serve.

"Cooperation with Interpol Rome continues to finalize the procedure for the extradition of the 42-year-old to Albania ," the police announced.
