"Global Price" Index: Albania 14th in the world for the highest price of oil

"Global Price" Index: Albania 14th in the world for the highest price

Prices on international stock exchanges have marked a significant drop, which had not been recorded since the beginning of the Russian war in Ukraine. Although the prices in the stock markets are falling, the opposite happens in Albania.

When the prices, not only of fuel but also of the food basket, increased, the government decided to take control of their setting by setting up two Boards: the Board of Transparency and Monitoring of Trading Prices and the Board of Transparency for Fuels.

The "Global Price Index" ranks Albania in the 14th place in the world for the price of a liter of diesel, leaving behind developed countries such as Singapore and Germany, Monitor reports .

According to data from "Global Price", a liter of diesel in Albania cost 1.95 euros on August 18, this is because the Transparency Board decided to increase the price instead of reducing it.

Likewise, Albania ranks among the 20 countries with the highest oil prices in the world.

A barrel of oil is being traded on the stock exchange today at 94 USD, but in Albania, as it seems, the Board is not transparently reflecting the changes that are happening in the stock market.

In the last meeting, the Board came out with a new decision on the price of fuel in the country, and what stands out is that oil has increased by 6 Lek, bringing it to 227 Lek/liter, from 221.
