Investigation into abuses with Saranda Municipality cemeteries, three people

Saranda Police have prosecuted 3 people, suspected of abusing the city's Municipality cemeteries, after  being denounced on the Top Channel show "Fiks Fare".

The criminal proceedings against these individuals began after the publication of a video on an investigative show that dealt with cases of abuse in the provision of public cemeteries, raising suspicions of illegal actions and inactions on the part of Saranda Municipality employees.

"Specialists from the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Section in Saranda have referred procedural materials to the Prosecutor's Office for the following citizens:

•Th. M., 38 years old, and FB, 65 years old, residents of Saranda, administrators of two commercial activities (funeral agencies), for the criminal offenses of “Passive corruption in the private sector” and “Land occupation”;

•RS, 51 years old, resident of Saranda, former director of the Public Services Directorate at the Municipality of Saranda, for the criminal offenses of "Abuse of office" and "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions", the police explain.

The criminal proceedings against these citizens began after the publication of a video on the investigative show "Fiks Fare", which dealt with cases of abuse in the provision of public cemeteries, raising suspicions of illegal actions and inactions on the part of Saranda Municipality employees.

"The Vlora Local Police Directorate thanks the media and citizens for their cooperation and invites them to report any case of violation of the law, guaranteeing a quick and impartial response ," the police statement said.
