The verbal clash between Tirana and Tehran has intensified following Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements about the Iranian regime and repeated accusations of cyberattacks against Albania.

The reaction came from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, where spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei responded to the head of the Albanian government through a post on the social network X.

The Iranian official has rejected Rama's accusations, claiming that they are being used to divert attention from the dissatisfaction of Albanian citizens and the protests taking place in the country.

"Calm down, Mr. Prime Minister. You were the one who started this ," Baqaei writes, adding that Rama should face the criticism of his citizens instead of, according to him, looking for culprits outside Albania.

In his reaction, the Iranian diplomat claims that Albanian citizens are capable of judging the political situation themselves and that the Albanian government should listen to the voices being raised on the streets of Tirana.

" Calm down, Mr. Prime Minister. It was YOU, sir, who started this. So... you need to face the music! It would be wiser to show some respect for the intelligence and judgment of your people, as a nation with a rich culture and proud history. They are sharp enough to distinguish truth from falsehood. If you choose to sell out your national sovereignty, that is your decision. You do not owe us an explanation. But when faced with the anger and criticism of your public, please do not use others as a convenient scapegoat to escape accountability. Instead of writing a long pamphlet filled with baseless accusations against Iran, take a moment to listen to your people chanting in the streets: "No to corruption!" "We want justice!" "Rama out! ", the minister writes
