"They are corrupt or members of gangs", Dumani talks about the ties of officials with organized crime
The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, has stated that from the investigations into organized crime, links of crime with officials of different levels, who have been corrupted or have become part of organized crime groups, have been identified.
Speaking at the public seminar on "Comprehensive actions in the fight against corruption", held in the Parliament of Albania, Dumani said that SPAK has seized and confiscated 150 million euros of assets.
"SPAK is on the front line of the fight against corruption, following an approach based on transparency, international cooperation and concrete results. The independence of institutions, human and technical capacities have given promising results that have been translated into concrete issues.
In addition to prosecuting senior officials, SPAK also focuses on the fight against organized crime, where thanks to cooperation with foreign law enforcement agencies, we have made it possible to attack various criminal groups, various criminal organizations involved in violent crimes or drug trafficking.
In addition to the exercise of criminal prosecution, the focus of SPAK is also the identification and confiscation of the products of the criminal offense as for subjects who have been prosecuted for the criminal offense of corruption and organized crime. From the date of creation of SPAK to the day we are talking, we have seized a total of 150 million euros", said Dumani.
