Late interest, families pay 4.6 million euros until the end of June

Late interest paid for electricity bills until the end of June reached 464 million ALL or 4.6 million euros.

The data reported by OSHEE Group and published by the Energy Regulatory Authority for the first part of the year show that the number of invoices for which late interest was paid reached a total of 2.1 million.

This means that for 1/3 of the invoices issued by the distribution company, an additional value has been collected. In total, until the end of June, OSHEE issued 6.1 million bills with consumption reading.

Late interest accrues on an invoice when the monthly invoice is not paid within 30 days of the following month. So, if the invoice was issued for the month of August, it can be paid without interest until the end of September, and after that, late interest is applied, which increases progressively over time.

In April of this year, OSHEE started the application of relief schemes for the burdened obligations both for family members and for businesses, which aims to encourage the latter to pay off debts.

More specifically, the benefits for each customer category that are still in effect are:

Family customers who are treated with economic assistance, pensioners-head of the family, or customers with a special status, can pay the arrears in fixed monthly installments of 1,200 ALL.

Other family customers can pay arrears in fixed monthly installments of ALL 2,800.

For non-family, budget and non-budget customers, OSHEE applied the payment of arrears in installments determined on the basis of the value of the debit divided into five levels.

OSHEE Group also approved the scheme of interest reduction against the full liquidation of the outstanding debt until December 31, 2022.

Customers, who express their willingness to liquidate all arrears at once with 1 (one) installment, benefit from a reduction of late interest in different measures, according to the categories below:

Family customers of all types benefit from a 70% reduction in late interest, in case of repayment of the entire obligation at once.

Non-family, budgetary and non-budgetary customers benefit from a 50% interest reduction, in case of repayment of the entire obligation at once.

The category of non-family customers - small businesses benefit from a 100% reduction in late interest, in case of repayment of the entire obligation at once./ Monitor
