The EC grants 80 million euros in budget support for Albania's energy crisis
Albania this year will benefit from 80 million euros from the European Commission as direct budget support to cope with the crisis of high energy prices, referring to the EC's quarterly report on the progress of the economy in the Western Balkans, in the period October-December 2022.
The EC pointed out that the increase in consumption of the population was the basis for the growth of about 4% of the GDP in the third quarter of 2022.
Export growth accelerated to 15% last year. Government consumption continued to contract in 9 the second and third quarters of 2022.
The transport, trade and services branches were the biggest contributors to GDP growth, with 1.9% points, followed by construction and real estate activities (with 0.8% points).
The decline in production explains the negative contribution of 0.2 percentage points from the industry sector to GDP in the third quarter.
Annual employment growth was 3.8% in the third quarter of 2022. The unemployment rate fell below 11% for the first time (10.8%), but youth unemployment was almost flat in 2022.

Foreign reserves exceeded the level of 5 billion euros in the third quarter of 2022 and fell slightly to 4.9 billion euros in November 2022, while the coverage of imports fell to 7.3 months.
