Fees increase every day, students do not receive scholarships for 4 months
For at least three years, funds originating from merit and social scholarships for students have been deposited to their bank accounts at least four to five months late.
According to a questionnaire carried out by the Civic Center, it turns out that 98% of students in Albania who are treated with scholarships based on merit and need did not receive any funding from their universities from October to January of this year.
Although VKM No. 903, dated 21.12.2016, stipulates that funds due to students from scholarships must be transferred every month. Scholarships are a vital source of financial support for students in Albania, despite the fact that the monetary amount that comes from these scholarships is low, up to the value of 10,000 ALL per month.
These scholarships can help students pay expenses such as rent, books and other necessary living expenses. Merit-based scholarships are awarded to students based on their academic achievements, while need-based scholarships are awarded to students coming from various categories who are considered needy.
