Opposes the sentence of life imprisonment, hearings begin in the Special Appeal for Laert Haxhiu
Hearings have started for Laert Haxhiu in the Special Appeal, as he opposes the life sentence.
Present in the hall are only the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani and lawyer Detar Hysi, while Haxhiu is absent.
Haxhiu was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Special Court on April 24 of this year, for what has been described as the "Lushnje Massacre", an event recorded in 2017, where two people were killed and two others were injured.
The sentence against him was given for the commission of a series of criminal offenses such as "Structured criminal group", "Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization or a structured criminal group", "Murder in other qualifying circumstances", "Holding without permission and manufacturing of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" and "Disturbance of public peace".
