Journalist Klodiana Lala revealed details about the cell where Mayor Erion Veliaj was placed in Durrës.

Invited to News24, she stated that Veliaj is in the same sector in Durrës prison as former minister Ilir Beqaj, Alqi Bllako and Jurgis Cyrbja. According to her, this is a sector made especially for officials. 

"The decision is made by the General Directorate of Prisons, which makes a risk assessment.
Veliaj is a senior official and there is no risk of escape. At the time when Veliaj was ordered to be detained in prison, the prisoners made strong accusations against him and this was apparently seen as a possibility for incidents and an element of risk. Because Veliaj has a residential address in Tirana, Durrës is closer.

"Beqaj, Çyrbja, Bllako, Veliaj, who are in the same sector, separated only by a wall, can communicate with each other. It is a sector made especially for officials ," said Lala.
