Fewer births in the country / Natural increase remains negative for the third

For the third month in a row, the natural increase of the population in Albania continues to be negative.

According to INSTAT data , the number of births for the second quarter of 2022 is 5,384, marking a decrease of 14.8%, compared to the second quarter of 2021.

The number of deaths for the second quarter of 2022 2022 is 4,916, marking a decrease of 19.4%, compared to the second quarter of 2021. The natural increase of the population reflects a positive trend in the second quarter of 2022 with 468 births more than death.

In the second quarter of 2022, the county with the highest natural increase is Tirana, with 821 more births than deaths, while the county with the lowest natural increase is Korça, with 193 more deaths than births.

In the second quarter of 2022, all regions of the country recorded a decrease in the number of births, compared to the second quarter of 2021.

In the second quarter of 2022, the district with the highest number of births is Tirana with 1,940 births, while the district with the lowest number is Gjirokastra with 85 births.

The smallest decrease in percentage of births during the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021 is the county of Berat with 9.0%, while the largest decrease is the county of Vlora with 25.4%.

In the second quarter of 2022, all regions of the country recorded a decrease in the number of deaths, compared to the second quarter of 2021.

In the second quarter of 2022, the county with the lowest number of deaths is Kukësi with 97 deaths, while the county with the highest number is Tirana with 1,119 deaths.

The greatest decrease in the percentage of deaths during the second quarter of 2022, compared to the same period of 2021, is occupied by the district of Kukes with a decrease of 30.2%.
