Meta seeks freedom, Supreme Court to decide on February 27

The Supreme Court will review the request submitted by the president of the Freedom Party Ilir Meta, who is being held as a political prisoner, for the lifting of the security measure on February 27. The appointed judges are Ilir Panda, Albana Boksi and Medi Bici, who will review not only the recourse of the former head of state but also that of MP Monika Kryemadhi.

Meta, who has been under arrest since October of last year, is requesting a more lenient security measure, where one of the arguments highlighted in the appeal is related to his being the leader of the second opposition force in the country and the situation on the eve of the parliamentary elections on May 11.

The former president is accused by SPAK of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets in connection with the joint Cez-Dia files, the former LSI's lobbying in the US and his family's expenses.
