Tourism slows down/ Arrivals of foreign citizens in June mark the lowest growth of this year

The rate of increase in the entry of foreign citizens into the country in June has slowed down compared to the previous months.

The data published by INSTAT revealed that a total of 1.24 million foreign citizens entered the country in June, with an increase of 23.6% compared to the same period a year ago.

A month ago, in May, the arrivals of foreigners had increased by 38%. The record for this year is held by February, with an expansion of 55%, in an indication that tourism is extending throughout the year, as the country is attracting more and more travelers interested not only in the sea, but also in history, culture, the cuisine.

For the January-June period, the arrivals of citizens in the country have increased by 34%, from 38%, which was the expansion for the 5th month.

In the last two years, Albania has experienced the best historical period for tourism, with the arrival of foreign nationals reaching 10 million in 2023. The positive trend has continued this year as well, but with the beginning of summer, the increase in prices seems to have slowed down somewhat. foreigners in Albania come mainly because the country is advertised as a cheap destination.

According to INSTAT, during the month of June 2024, 1,921,208 Albanian citizens and foreigners entered the Albanian territory. This indicator has increased by 21.5%, compared to June 2023.

1,788,916 Albanian citizens and foreigners appear to have left the territory of the Republic of Albania, marking an increase of 20.0%, compared to the same period a year ago.

In June 2024, the number of Albanian citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 676,241, experiencing an increase of 17.7%, compared to June 2023.

The number of foreign citizens who have entered the Albanian territory is 1,244,967. This number has increased by 23.6%, compared to the same period of 2023.

In the month of June 2024, 642,471 Albanian citizens are counted to have left the territory of Albania, marking an increase of 11.5%, compared to June 2023.

The exits of foreign citizens from the territory of Albania during the month of June 2024 are 1,146,445. Compared to the same period a year ago, this indicator has increased by 25.4%.

In June 2024, the region with the highest number of foreign nationals entering Albania is the region of Europe with 1,174,197 citizens, followed by America, East Asia and the Pacific, respectively with 41,921 and 11,103 citizens.

In June 2024, compared to June 2023, the entries of foreign citizens are:

• increase, for personal purposes by 23.2%;

• increase, for vacation purposes, visiting relatives, etc., by 25.1%;
