The Academy of Sciences has suspiciously and without transparency started the process of electing the new president, where there is only one candidate in the race, that of the current president, Skënder Gjinushi.

Without any announcement in the media and secretly from the rest of the academics, Gjinushi is expected to take over the leadership of the Academy of Sciences again, even though this procedure has been contested by the academic Artan Fuga.

According to Balkanweb, it has been learned that about 15 academics have voted in advance with an envelope in a very dubious procedure, while the votes will be administered by an Ad-Hoc committee and not by a voting commission, which should have been set up for this case.

Sources clarify, among other things, that academics Nestor Thereska and Ardian Civici have proposed Gjinushi for chairman, while the only voice against this procedure followed is academic Artan Fuga. The latter is known to have opposed the procedures being followed today by the Academy of Sciences to pave the way for the reconfirmation of Gjinushi as president.

Currently, the elections are taking place without the presence of the media.
