A conference was held today in Tirana to prepare for the May 11 elections.

Speaking, the substitute member of the Venice Commission, Sasa Zagorc, said that the depoliticization of the election administration is important.

Zagorc said that the Venice Commission is ready to assist in a fair process, adding that the legal administration must be independent.

"The Venice Commission, with its opinions, can identify opportunities for improvement. It is the duty of the bodies to highlight issues they consider important for discussion. A professional and independent election administration is essential for free and fair elections. Political parties must be represented equally. The Code states that members who can be appointed cannot be removed at will, so it is important to discuss all issues in advance. I hope that the debate will be as fruitful as possible ," he said.
